Coach DJ part of Lin's success

Our own coach D.J. (David Jones) was featued in an article in the San Antonio Express-News on Sunday, detailing how he worked with Jeremy Lin before the 2010 NBA draft to help improve the former Harvard player's jump shot.

Lin has become a sensation at point guard for the New York Knicks over the past month.

"Basketball was so good to me, I just wanted to give back to others who love the game," said D.J. "Maybe someday he (Lin) will want to give back in the same way."   Read the article

The 2011-12 Buckner Fanning Bobcats girls team finished an undefeated season by winning the CALSA Championship on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27 and 28 at BFCS.

The team went 7-0 during the regular season and 3-0 in the tournament. Mailee Jones and Ashley Brueggeman were named tournament MVPs as the Bobcats' defended their title from 2010-11.

Boys

The boys earned third place in the CALSA Division I tournament. The Bobcats won two games Friday, but fell in two games Saturday.

The team went 7-1 during the regular season.

The Athletic Banquet will be Friday, March 23, at Amoricitos Mexican Restaurant on 1604 from 6-9 p.m.

The 2011 Buckner Fanning Bobcats capped off an undefeated season with a four-game sweep of the CALSA Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14 and 15 at BFCS.

"We are so proud of the girls and their dedicated coach, Tiffany Brueggeman, for all their hard work and preparation for an undefeated season and first place in their league," head of school John Purcell stated.

Said Coach Brueggeman: "We did it, Bobcats ... our hard work paid off and we definitely got buckets!"

The Buckner Fanning Bobcats played a tough Town East team in the STFC Small School Division Championship game Saturday but came up short, earning the second-place trophy. The Bobcats finished 5-0 in the West Conference and 5-2 overall. The runnerup finish is the best for BFCS since the team was co-division champion in 2008.
