"My name is Vadrina Johnson and my son Sterling attended The School at Mission Springs from 1998-2000. He was in
the charter kindergarten class. I visited the school back in October while I was working in the area. We currently live
in Plano and Sterling is about to complete his freshman year at Yale University.
" 'The School at Mission Springs provided me with the education and motiviational foundation to persevere
and excel,' Sterling said about his experience at The School at Missions Springs, today called The Buckner Fanning
Christian School.
"We would like to extend a thanks to the teachers, staff and the school for providing a great education foundation for Sterling."

"First things first, the Buckner Fanning Christian School was by far one of the best choices my husband and I had made for our daughter. She had a little trouble with her friends in fifth grade and that made us decide she deserved better and to try private schooling. As soon as we visited Buckner’s campus and met a few of the teachers we were excited and followed through with the open house, their tour and curriculum schedule example, and knew this was going to be great for her.
"To start, the small class sizes were perfect; the middle school is sectioned to where they mainly have their own space and their own teachers. The pre-schoolers through fifth grade are in the lower buildings making the middle school kids feel a little more special and a role model for their younger classmates. The middle schoolers participate in mentoring the elementary students. That is really neat and gives them responsibility and an opportunity to take pride in themselves and to be leaders.
"As for their daily lessons, their teachers are teachers, advisors, friends, and at times, yes, referees, but never anything they couldn’t handle. Most of them are parents as well. The education there was one in itself. It was not just book learning and tests. It was hands-on, practicing, reading aloud, skits and plays, interacting with one another, and teamwork. Most of all, 'life lessons' are incorporated with everyday activities.
"How important is that? Very. The personal touch they give with each student is also incredible, not one child is the same and they know that and help individually as well. What a job. They deserve more credit than they get! Also, I want to include that the lessons taught not only involve their grade-level learning, but over and above that in order to get them ahead of the game and ready for their future in high school.
"After the first year there, with all the festivals, Christmas bazaars, barbeques, field trips and parent/teacher meetings, trust me, you become one big family! To this day, we miss them terribly and even though my daughter is now a junior in high school, we are still friends and still keep in touch.
"Remember too, the school is a Christian school; it was an incredible wonder to watch our daughter learn something about church, God, hymns and prayer. This was something we didn’t do in our home, and for her to be able to see others pray, and l earn to trust in God and learn huge life lessons in religion was superb. She even learned to say 'Our Father' in Spanish. It is non-denominational so the love of God was there. All denominations are welcomed and could all still pray in a way as one.
"One word, family. The kids learn to be part of a family, yet act as individuals and savor their friendships. Those are lessons they can take with them far in life. The general day-to-day life there as a school is one that she’ll never forget — a well-rounded, honest, loving and educational one that we as parents can say to ourselves…”good job, I’m glad we made the right decision!”
"Buckner Fanning is one thing in our books we did right for our child. We will always miss the school, and we know our child got an opportunity that would have never happened in a public school setting. We’re thankful for all of them and their job is such a difficult one, but they do it, and do it very well."

"My son is now in second grade (his fourth year at BFCS) and is flourishing in many ways. He continues to be well ahead of the public school standards. The teachers and staff are very caring and every child receives the individual attention he or she deserves. He is provided with enrichment exercises in the classroom to make sure he stays challenged after he has mastered the current lessons. I have seen with the older children that the curriculum is sequenced very well from grade to grade.
"He also is learning leadership skills as he participates with the middle school basketball team practices and is preparing to take the plays he is learning and teach them to his teammates with his YMCA team. The teachers, staff and coaches are very encouraging and are helping to build his self-esteem in addition to teaching him the necessary curriculum."
"I feel my son will be better prepared for the future as a result of attending this school."

"Firstly, my sincerest gratitude to Buckner Fanning Christian School (BFCS) for the past assistance we have been granted. (My son) has attended BFCS since he was in Kindergarten and my wish for him to continue is based upon the education he is receiving. My son is being educated far beyond academics. He is nourished spiritually, encouraged socially and strengthened physically. My purpose of being his mother is shared with BFCS in offering him the best. My expectations have been realized through this education and it serves as the foundation for the greatness he will have in his life. BFCS has been a remarkable partner!"
